Our presentation of Screenagers last spring brought into focus the new challenges of parenting today. The digital world is real, is here to stay, and affords our children tremendous opportunities. This talk and discussion will touch upon brain development in tandem with appropriate strategies for preparing your children to productively interact with technology.  With proper guidance, our children can thrive, not just survive, in the digital age.

Susan Bauerfeld, Ph.D. is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist, Speaker, Parenting Consultant/Coach and ADHD coach. Her passion is promoting understanding and teaching skills for success—especially self-regulation, anxiety management, and effective communication—to parents, teachers, and the young people they support. In presentations, workshops, and private consultations, Dr. Bauerfeld offers compassion, humor, and education as she helps people develop the skills they need to more effectively manage their worries, their challenges, and technology.  Dr. Bauerfeld received her MA and PhD degrees with distinction from Fairleigh Dickinson University and her undergraduate degree with honors from Trinity College (Hartford, CT). She has completed ADHD coach training through JST Coaching, LLC and is a certified facilitator of Calm and Connected: Parenting Children with ADHD©. 



Chris Parrott, BPS Chartered Counseling Psychologist, author, and speaker.  After graduating Cum Laude from Dartmouth College, Chris Parrott studied in London, earning her MSc and Post MSc degree to become a BPS Chartered Counseling Psychologist. Back in the US, Parrott co-founded Your Self Series, an SECD teen identity development program.  Her co-authored book, Reach Before You Teach: Ignite passion and Purpose in Your Classroom (Corwin Press) suggests over fifty interventions to help teachers connect with their students. Indeed, the power of connection drives Parrott’s dedication to raising the level of education globally so that it focuses on supporting teens socially and emotionally. To that end, Parrott presents at various national and local conferences on topics related to building a strong sense of self.

She holds an MBA from The Wharton School.  She lives in New York with her husband and two daughters.
