Funding for OPT Program
The Foundation is excited to announce our first teacher grant for 2017! Mary Cordero, a FLHS teacher, created an opportunity for her class of special needs students to start their own business, refurbishing and reselling used sporting goods. This program teaches skills necessary to work in a business and gain meaningful employment in the future. To make this program happen, Ms. Cordero needed funding for equipment and supplies. We are thrilled to support this initiative which will affect 14 students this year and will continue next year.
Elementary Co-Curricular Enrichment
All the elementary schools have an open offer to apply for grants to fund co-curricular enrichment.
Fox Lane Middle School
The Foundation has been a supporter of the Unified Arts Automation & Robotics units since 2014. We purchased a total of eight VEX Robotics® kits to allow the 6th, 7th and 8th grade students to build on knowledge gained about design, to build and program one of a kind robotic systems to solve real-world problems and complete a task. In 2016 we donated two 3-D Printers to enhance the pre-engineering workshop.

Writing Models Handbooks
The English Department at FLHS has written a writing models handbook. This book contains rubrics for several genres of writing and samples at different levels of mastery. The purpose of this manual is to build uniformity of writing standards and provide graduating seniors with skills necessary for college writing. The Foundation provided funding for printing of these handbooks so that they can be distributed to every high school student. Distribution and use of the handbook is being implemented in the 2016/17 school year.
